The radiator guard protects the for BMW R 12 / R12 NineT radiator from minor and major damage caused by road debris while allowing cooling air to pass through. For BMW radiators consist of thin fins and an inner core – the fins can easily bend and block the passage of air, ultimately leading to overheating and reduced engine performance. The inner core can also be punctured by debris, such as a stone that is picked up by the front tire of a bicycle or other traffic and thrown directly at the radiator. The result is a rapid overheating of the engine and, if the slippery coolant sprays onto the tires, a sudden loss of grip can result.
